Area C2: campagne di scavo 2018 e 2019

Il testo presenta i risultati preliminari delle indagini archeologiche condotte negli anni 2018 e 2019 dall’Università degli Studi di Genova nell’Area C2, all’interno del Quartiere Occidentale di Nora. In quest’area, le ricerche hanno portato alla luce i resti di un interessante area insediativa, caratterizzata da una edilizia che fa largo uso di legno e terra cruda. Del contesto si riconoscono almeno tre distinte fasi edilizie, caratterizzate da modifiche strutturali, da variazioni dei percorsi e, probabilmente, da trasformazioni delle modalità di utilizzo; queste fasi sono alternate a periodi di abbandono e di spoliazione. L’analisi preliminare dei reperti permette di inquadrare i contesti identificati nell’ambito del periodo compreso tra il IV e il VII secolo d.C.This paper presents the preliminary results of the archaeological investigations carried out in 2018 and 2019 by the University of Genoa in the Area C2, within the Western Sector at Nora. In this area, research has brought to light the ruins of an interesting settlement area, characterized by building techniques that largely made use of wood and clay. In this context three building phases can be recognized, characterized by structural modifications, route changes and transformations of change of use: these phases alternated with periods of abandonment and spolia. The preliminary analysis of the finds allows to place the identified contexts in the period ranging between the fourth and the seventh centuries AD.
