Il complesso monumentale sulle pendici orientali del colle di Tanit

Nel 2021 l’Università di Padova ha aperto un nuovo settore di scavo sulle pendici orientali del Colle di Tanit, in corrispondenza del grande complesso monumentale qui situato e affacciato sulla strada A-B, già parzialmente riportato in luce da Gennaro Pesce tra il 1952 e il 1953 e oggetto di attività di rilievo nel 2019. Le indagini stratigrafiche hanno permesso di ricavare nuove informazioni sull’articolazione planimetrica dell’edificio e sulla sua cronologia, nonché di recuperare materiali di estremo interesse che, oltre a confermare l’ipotesi della natura sacra del complesso, hanno permesso di formulare alcune riflessioni sulla possibile dedica dell’edificio.

In 2021 the University of Padua opened a new excavation sector on the eastern slopes of Tanit Hill, in correspondence with the large monumental complex here located and facing the street A-B, which was partially unearthed by Gennaro Pesce between 1952 and 1953 and has been the subject of survey activities in 2019. The stratigraphic investigations have made it possible to obtain new information on the planimetric articulation of the building and on its chronology, as well as to recover extremely interesting materials that, in addition to confirming the hypothesis of the sacred nature of the complex, have allowed us to formulate some reflections on the possible dedication of the building.
